Nottingham Forest fans react as forgotten man is snapped in training

Nottingham Forest recently shared some photos from pre-season training and a glimpse of Joao Carvalho has seen supporters lose their minds.

The Reds fan base have been divided in recent times over the Portuguese star. Some slammed his inconsistencies, whilst others have claimed he is underused.

Almeria have opted not to pursue a permanent signing for the 24-year-old and he’s now back on Trentside.

Since his departure from the City Ground, the club has changed manager again. Now, Carvalho will have a clean sheet and a chance to impress Chris Hughton.

The attacking midfielder is exciting. Even his harshest critics would make no suggestions otherwise. It’s fair to say he does need to gain some consistency, but he has to be worth a shot.

Forest struggled for creativity last season. Hughton has made no secret of his desire to add attacking players this summer. In Carvalho, however, he has a player who might save him millions this summer.

He joined the club in 2018 for a club-record £13.2 million. It’s fair to say he hasn’t lived up to that valuation, but ultimately he didn’t choose to cost that much.

Forest supporters want Carvalho back in the team

The midfielder fits the number 10 role perfectly and Forest have missed a spark in his absence. Filip Krovinovic looked decent on loan last season, although he didn’t offer much that Carvalho can’t.

Now, the picture on Twitter has seen Forest fans lose their minds. They’re delighted to see him featuring in training and hope to see him back on the field in the Garibaldi.

During the 2018/19 campaign, he claimed eight assists to go with his four goals and fans want to see some of that spark again.
