The Telegraph journalist John Percy has claimed that Nottingham Forest could be close to the capture of Watford winger Philip Zinckernagel on a season-long loan.

The Reds are yet to add to their ranks this summer. Chris Hughton will definitely want to make additions though and he bids to fight for promotion.

Zinckernagel only arrived at Watford in January. He scored once and claimed five assists as the Hornets secured an instant return back to the Premier League.

At 26, the right-winger is a nice age and would complement Forest’s plethora of wingers already available to Hughton.

Brennan Johnson has returned to the ranks, whilst Joe Lolley and Alex Mighten are also available to the Forest boss for next season.

Interestingly, the Reds could view Zinckernagel as someone who could play through the middle. He played nine times as a No.10 last season and that would see him give Forest some versatility.

Zinckernagel arrived at Vicarage Road from Bodo/Glimt and took well to life playing in the English second tier.

Forest would welcome some new additions in the coming weeks and if Zinckernagel gets over the line, he might prove a decent addition to the squad.

Forest could complete shrewd capture in Zinckernagel

The Reds used the Premier League loan market pretty well last season. In particular, the signing of James Garner came off and more of the same will be sought by the club.

Zinckernagel doesn’t seem to be part of the club’s plans for 2021/22. AS a result, the club does seem willing to let him head to Forest for the new season.

A versatile forward would be a lovely addition to the Forest ranks and having someone who can play centrally or on the flanks is most welcome.

The Reds fan base will hope he can settle quickly and help Forest get off to a flyer when domestic football resumes.
