Nottingham Forest remain keen on the signing of Jack Clarke on loan from Tottenham. The Athletic reports that the Reds are still interested in the man who spent half of last season on loan at Stoke City.
Forest are yet to add anyone to their ranks this summer. A plethora of loan players have come back to the club, with several eyeing a chance under Chris Hughton.
With the season just over three weeks away though, the Reds incumbent will hope to get some players into his squad. Forest finished 17th last season and improving on that is a must.
Clarke is set to be allowed to leave Tottenham once again. The former Leeds United man cost Spurs £10 million back in 2019.
The right-winger has made just three appearances for Spurs. He has spent time on loan with Leeds, QPR and last season with the Potters.
During 2020/21 he made 14 appearances for the Championship outfit, registering two assists. The first half of the season saw Jose Mourinho keep him in and around his Tottenham squad.
Football London claimed that the former Spurs boss had been impressed with the youngster. As a result, he kept him around his training sessions in an attempt to let him lean on the likes of Gareth Bale and Harry Kane.
Clarke to Forest: Future star could thrive under right guidance
The former Leeds youngster simply has to be playing regular first-team football. It’s fair to claim that the 2021/22 campaign could be his biggest to date.
His last two loan spells away from Spurs haven’t seen him play loads and that could be key for his development next season.
Forest do need a winger adding to their ranks. Joe Lolley will compete with Brennan Johnson and Alex Mighten for a place in Hughton’s team this season.
With Sammy Ameobi now departed, however, space has opened up for another wide option to join the ranks.
Clarke is quick, direct and goes past players with relative ease. If he does sign, he has the attributes to star at the City Ground and he could excite the Forest fan base.
