Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Hibernian defender Josh Doig, according to The Athletic. The Reds will compete with Watford, West Ham and Arsenal for the talented Scottish star.
Edinburgh Live has previously claimed Premier League interest in the youngster. He is extremely highly rated by his current club and could be valued at £5 million.
Doig, 19, has a contract at Easter Road until 2025 and aren’t really under pressure at the moment to sell. After being released as a youngster from Hearts, he has made his way through the ranks at fierce rivals Hibs.

The teenager has now played 36 times for the Scottish Premiership outfit, scoring once and claimed four assists. He’s also spent time out on loan with Queens Park.
Although there is no real urgency to sell from a Hibernian perspective, the player would surely jump at the chance to move to England.
Premier League clubs might hold the aces but Forest would certainly be able to offer him regular first-team football.
The Reds allowed Yuri Ribeiro to leave during the summer. He departed at the end of his two-year contract and leaves Tyler Blackett and Gaetan Bong as the two left-backs at the club.
Doig to Forest: Reds could complete genuine coup
It does seem unlikely that Forest will fork out such a sum on a left-back, especially without selling anyone.
The players who will make Forest money all have something to offer and supporters would rather the likes of Joe Worrall and Brennan Johnson were kept around.
Doig is quality though and has been called ‘excellent’ by Hibs boss Jack Ross for his performances in the first team.

Forest’s need for a left-back looks pretty urgent. Blackett has a less than impressive injury record, whilst Bong has been told that he is free to leave.
Doig might be out of Forest’s reach but this is definitely the sort of player that the Reds’ hierarchy should be looking at.
