Nottingham Forest are eyeing another loan deal for Manchester United starlet James Garner. The Reds do face fierce competition from Sheffield United, however.

Chris Hughton signed the youngster on loan from the Red Devils back in January. He made 20 appearances for Forest, scoring four goals as the team finished in 17th place in the Championship.

Now, The Sun claims that United are willing to loan out Garner, with Forest and the Blades lining up attempts to sign the young midfielder.

Forest are yet to add to their outfield ranks. Ethan Horvath is the only player to check-in at the City Ground, with the goalkeeper joining on a free transfer.

RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.

With just a week until the action gets underway for Forest, Hughton will hope to have new recruits available to him for next week’s trip to Coventry City.

Garner has been busy featuring for United in their pre-season campaign. He’s played in ages against Derby, QPR, Brentford and Preston North End.

Now, it looks as though Ole Gunnar Solskajaer is willing to loan him out once more. Garner went on loan last season and really shone at both Watford and Forest.

Can Forest sign Garner?

It would represent a real blow to Forest if they allow another Championship club to steal in and land the United ace. If they’re willing to loan him out, the Reds have to be right at the front of the queue.

Garner was sensational for Forest during 2020/21 and fans would relish the chance to get inside the stadium and see him strutting his stuff at the City Ground.

Sheffield United might have the edge though. Slavisa Jokanovic will have designs of winning promotion next season and that project will surely appeal to Garner.

Forest fans will hope this link is merely paper talk and that the Reds are still frontrunners for his signature.
