Nottingham Forest want to sign Reading midfielder Josh Laurent, according to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon.
Laurent arrived at Reading last summer but the Royals are currently cash-strapped and need to raise funds pretty quickly.
The 26-year-old fits the bill of a midfield enforcer and Forest are now preparing a swoop on the Berkshire-based club.
Last season he fired three goals and registered three assists as he made 46 appearances for the Royals in all competitions.
He missed just one league game all season and even captained the team during a final day draw with Huddersfield Town.
Laurent won the club’s Player of the Year award last season. They are in a difficult position though, with their midfield warrior out of contract next summer.
He has played for several teams in the Football League. He starred at Shrewsbury but has also turned out for Hartlepool, Bury, Wigan and Brentford.
Forest fans urge club to sign Laurent
This appears to be a link that Forest fans can get behind. The club needs to do some business and supporters are growing concerned.
Laurent could prove a class addition to the Forest ranks. He tackles well, moves the ball nicely and is a real physical presence in the middle of the park.
Prising him away from the Royals might not be too difficult. They have issues with their finances down in Berkshire and that could mean they are willing to sell.
Forest are also been linked with a move for defender Tom Holmes, although it’s the signing of Laurent that is likely to get the juices flowing for supporters.
Following the links which emerged yesterday, fans took to Twitter and it seems plenty are keen for Forest to press ahead.
