A young Nottingham Forest outfit defeated Bradford City 2-1 at the City Ground to advance to the second round of the Carabao Cup. Joao Carvalho scored twice just before half-time and Tyrese Fornah was awarded the Man of the Match accolade.
It was a night to remember for the club’s academy. Fin Back, Riley Harbottle, Baba Fernandes, Jayden Richardson, Ateef Konate and Fornah all made their first starts for Forest.
It was a nod in the direction of the club’s academy. Gary Brazil and his staff have worked tirelessly behind the scenes and several young stars shone during last night’s contest.
Fornah was perhaps the most experienced of the young guns. He spent last season on loan in League One, making over 40 appearances for Plymouth Argyle.
The 21-year-old is now fighting for a place in the first team and he’s offered boss Chris Hughton food for thought ahead of Saturday’s game against Bournemouth.
Forest fans rave about Fornah
No player has more touches of the ball than Fornah during last night’s contest. He enjoyed 87, completing a pass success ratio of 88%, according to Who Scored.
Fornah was extremely on the eye. He was neat and tidy, kept things simple but at the same time, he was a driving presence in the Forest midfield engine room.
The Reds faithful were overjoyed with his performance and he was the man who earned the plaudits on Twitter.
Forest play Wolves in the next round of the competition and Fornah will hope to have given his manager plenty of confidence ahead of the next round.
Here is what the Reds fan base had to say about the talented academy graduate, following his full-debut at the City Ground last night.
