Last month Eric Junior Dina Ebimbe was linked with a move to Nottingham Forest. Foot Mercato claimed that the PSG midfielder was deemed surplus to requirements by boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Fast forward, less than a month and the 20-year-old now looks set for a reprieve. In the space of just a few weeks, he’s gone from being linked with a Championship side to being on the verge of rubbing shoulders with Lionel Messi.

Pochettino seems to have completely changed his mind over Ebimbe. He has played all three games played by PSG this season, including an hour of Saturday’s 4-2 win over Strasbourg.

The three appearances made by Ebimbe this season are his first for the Ligue 1 outfit. Despite a plethora of stellar signings this summer, he will hope to play a part under Pochettino this season.

A move to Forest doesn’t look to be on the cards right now. A report from AS claims that Pochettino has actually been impressed with the 20-year-old, suggesting he’s now made a dramatic u-turn.

Ebimbe typically operates in the central midfield area. He has played on the right of a midfield three during his three outings for PSG this season.

He’s also had loan spells with Le Havre and Dijon in recent times. Just one month ago another was on the horizon with Forest being touted as a potential destination.

Loic Mbe Soh has played with Ebimbe previously, although it doesn’t look like the pair will now be reuniting at the City Ground any time soon.

Forest might wonder what might have been with Ebimbe

Whether there was any serious interest in the PSG talent remains to be seen. If there was, it’s something the Reds might want to monitor with relative intrigue.

When the likes of Messi are up to full speed, he may only find himself as a peripheral figure anyway. Given that Pochettino has now praised him, however, the Championship looks above his station.

Forest do need a midfielder before the transfer window closes and on his current form, Emimbe might have proved a decent addition for the Reds to make this summer.
