Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall has been linked with a move to Premier League club Southampton. They are eyeing the 24-year-old as a replacement for Jannik Vestergaard who joined Leicester last week. Looking at Twitter, however, their fans are divided over the signing of the Forest man.
Worrall has proved a loyal servant to Forest. After making his debut in 2016, he has gone on to play 137 times for the club. He has also spent a season at Rangers where he made 32 appearances for Steven Gerrard’s team.
Forest value Worrall between £10 million and £15 million. The club will also be acutely aware that Southampton have some money in the bank, having sold Danny Ings and Vestergaard this summer. They have spent half of the Ings money on Adam Armstrong from Blackburn.

Now, another raid on the Championship looks on the cards. Forest are bracing themselves for bids for Worrall. The defender very nearly joined Brentford earlier in the transfer window, although Kristoffer Ajer was recruited instead.
RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.
Worrall is yet to play for Forest this term. It is thought that he is injured, although some of the more cynical supporters believe that he’s being readied for a sale away from the City Ground this summer.
Southampton fans divided over Worrall
Although he’s one of the Championship’s better defenders, it seems as though the Saints supporters feel as though they could do better when it comes to replacing Vestergaard.
The club does have a policy of not signing too many players over the age of 25 for big sums. With that in mind, Worrall does seem to fit within their recruitment strategy at least.

Forest would dearly love to keep Worrall. The summer has proved a challenge to get permanent deals over the line though and a sale could certainly help in that sense.
Following yesterday’s links between Worrall and Southampton, their supporters took to Twitter to discuss his arrival and here is what they had to say about the Forest man.
Nothing wrong with buying talent from the championship, but is he much of a leader? I can’t say I know much about him / his game and that’s what we lack the most.

I think this would be a great signing! He has been one of Forests best player for a couple of years now! Unfortunately we can’t buy proven prem quality so I think he’s the right age profile and has a lot of experience to come in and do well!

If we got £30m profit from our current transfer dealings why are we not reinvesting it as promised? There are some great buys in the £15-20m region why are we messing around in the championship?

Oh dear 🤦♂️. Money in the bank and we still go for the cheap option. That is why we are going down

I know that we need more youth, but the whole point of having £30 mil is to splash it out on quality. We need a leader at the back like a Fonte or a Van Dijk. At the moment, we just don’t have any leadership at the back.

Great - young, leader CB. What we need, I'm sure Ralph is all over it too. Let's get it done
