Nottingham Forest were thrashed by Wolves last night but as the dust settles there has been plenty of praise for young defender Fin Back. The 18-year-old was once again called upon last night and he didn’t disappoint.
He was given a tough assignment up against Rayan Ait-Nouri but coped well under immense pressure. Back has now made four appearances in the first team for Forest.
The 2021/22 campaign has been a disaster so far for Forest. The only bright spark has been the fact that some youngsters have stepped up to the plate, with Back one of the more eye-catching academy performers.
Forest were put to the sword with a devastating show of finishing by Bruno Lage’s men. Goals from Romain Saiss, Daniel Podence, Trincao and Morgan Gibbs-White gave Wolves an easy passage into round three.
Will Back play against Derby?
It has to be said he probably won’t, although he could be among the substitutes. Jordan Gabriel will return from suspension and he is likely to be favoured ahead of the youngster.
The future looks bright for Back though and he will remain hot on the heels of Gabriel. So far the 22-year-old hasn’t really done a deal at Forest and it remains to be seen whether or not Chris Hughton fancies him.
What have Forest fans said about Back?
After a tough night at the office, it has proved difficult to find any positivity about the Reds. Back has, however, given some people a bit of something to shout about.
Once the team sheet was revealed for last night’s game, it always seemed like a thankless task for Forest. The Wolves side boasted bags of quality and the young Forest side was always going to struggle.
Supporters loved Back’s grit and determination though and after the game, they took to Twitter to praise his stunning performance.
