Nottingham Forest were beaten 4-0 by Wolves on Tuesday and in the aftermath, Tobias Figueiredo has upset the Reds fan base. The centre-back has liked Daniel Podence’s post speaking of his delight at netting against Forest.

Chris Hughton’s men were battered under the City Ground floodlights. Goals from Romain Saiss, Podence, Trincao and Morgan Gibbs-White taught a young Forest team a stern lesson.

With Derby to come at Pride Park this weekend, the Reds boss shuffled his pack. Several academy stars came in, with first-team stars given the night off by their manager.

One of those players was Figueiredo. An injury to Loic Mbe Soh in the first game of the season has given the Portuguese performer a reprieve. He was thrust into the action just prior to half-time and has started the three games since then.

The 27-year-old hasn’t done bad defensively this season. He has struck up a decent partnership with Scott McKenna and the pair will hope to help Forest to a first clean sheet of the season in the near future.

Figueiredo arrived at Forest in 2018. He was initially signed as Aitor Karanka’s maiden addition to his Forest squad and has now played 99 times for the Reds.

What has Figueiredo done to potentially annoy the Forest supporters?

Following the game on Tuesday, Podence took to Instagram. He claimed his delight at notching at the City Ground and wanted to thank Wolves supporters for their backing.

The Portuguese talisman was a product of the Sporting Lisbon youth academy at the same time as Figueiredo. As a result, the pair go way back and are probably extremely close friends.

Some will see the fact that Figueiredo has liked it as a menial thing, with far bigger problems to sort at the City Ground. There is a sense, however, that he could have surveyed the room a little better.

With some fans wanting to moan about anything and everything right now, this perhaps won’t go down as the best move Figueiredo has made during his time at Forest.
