Nottingham Forest are nearing a deal to sign Sheffield United defender Max Lowe on a season-long loan. The Reds are keen to add the left-back and Football League World claims that a deal could be on the horizon.

Lowe has made just 11 appearances for the Blades. He moved as part of a £15 million deal from Derby along with teammate Jayden Bogle.

The two full-backs have both struggled for game time at the South Yorkshire-based club, with Slavisa Jokanovic now willing to let Lowe join Forest.

The left-back is a badly-needed addition to the Forest ranks. Yuri Ribeiro, Nicholas Ioannou and Tyler Blackett have all departed in the summer. Gaetan Bong is the only senior left-back currently in the Forest ranks.

Forest will hope to have Lowe signed on in time to make his debut this weekend. The Reds travel to Derby County looking to claim their first point of the 2021/22 campaign.

Lowe has made 41 appearances altogether at Championship level. He is now 24 and also played alongside Scott McKenna during a spell on loan with Aberdeen.

That should make for a strong addition to the left-hand side of Forest’s defence and some quality is required.

What have Forest fans said about Lowe potentially signing?

It would seem as though plenty of supporters are happy for this deal to happen. Despite his Derby links previously it seems as though he’d be a popular addition.

Forest aren’t in a position where they can be fussy. The need for better players is becoming desperate and the club has to act quickly.

Having Lowe in place for Saturday would be a huge bonus. With Bong at left-back, Derby will fancy exploiting Forest down that side. If their former player is added, it would strengthen a weak area.

Following this morning’s news, we looked at what supporters had to say about the potential for a deal to take place.
