Brennan Johnson scored his first goal for Nottingham Forest during a 1-1 draw with Derby County yesterday. He fired home Gaetan Bong’s cross to give the Reds a share of the spoils following Tom Lawrence’s opener. Afterwards, Jorge Grant and James Garner reacted to his Instagram post.
The 20-year-old is back at Forest this season. He enjoyed a stunning season-long loan with Lincoln City during 2020/21, scoring 13 goals and claiming 14 assists as they reached the League One Play-Off Final.
Now, Johnson is back at Forest. He has been a regular in Chris Hughton’s team during the first five matches. He now has a goal to go with the opening day assist he registered at Coventry.
The Forest academy graduate has been linked with a move away from the club. With the transfer window set to close on Tuesday, it remains to be seen whether this will be a parting statement to the Forest fans or not.
Given that he still has bags of potential, supporters will want to see him keep. With Financial Fair Play lurking in the background, however, at least one player could need to depart between now and Tuesday. Forest fans will hope Johnson is kept at the club.
What have Grant and Garner said about Johnson shining for Forest?
Grant is now at Peterborough and he had a nice message for his fellow Forest academy graduate. Many believe the midfielder was offloaded before time from the City Ground and clearly, he now hopes Johnson does well.
The central midfielder played with Johnson during last season at Lincoln. Both players have now moved on and Grant was actually linked with a move to Forest in the summer.
Garner chose a simpler message. He chose to merely laud Johnson with a simple yet effective emoji in the form of a love heart.
