Braian Ojeda is set to become the first signing for Nottingham Forest on transfer deadline day. The midfielder has now completed a move to the City Ground with an announcement thought to be imminent.

Journalist Rudy Galetti claims that a total agreement has been reached. Forest have agreed on a fee with Olimpia and an official announcement is on course to be made soon.

It is thought that Forest will pay just shy of £2 million for the Paraguayan. Several performance-related clauses are likely to have been inserted in the deal, however.

Ojeda spent last season on loan in Argentina with Defensa. He made 12 appearances, although he did struggle to hold down a regular place in the side.

In total, he has made 35 appearances for Olimpia, having risen through the youth ranks with his boyhood club. Now, he looks set to embark on a new adventure with Forest.

The Reds have been keen to add another midfielder. Ryan Yates, Cafu and Jack Colback are all pretty similar. It will be hoped that Ojeda can provide something a little bit different.

Forest are without a win and a little more flair in the middle of the park could prove ideal to the Reds as the season progresses.

Ojeda looks like an exciting addition for Forest

Of course, as he’s arriving from South America the jury may remain out on this deal for a little while. On the face of things, this does look like an exciting piece of business though.

Ojeda would certainly offer Forest’s midfield with a degree of flair and crucially he could provide the creative spark the team is desperately craving.

Forest have until 11pm this evening to add to their ranks. Once Ojeda is announced the club will hope to make further new additions ahead of the window slamming shut.

The Reds are rock bottom and there will be some nail-biting going on behind the scenes at the City Ground right now.
