Jordan Gabriel waved goodbye to Nottingham Forest yesterday. Despite featuring in four of the five league games played this season, the youngster was sold to Blackpool. After his departure, Lyle Taylor and Philip Zinckernagel reacted on Instagram.

Gabriel spent last season on loan with the Tangerines. He made 35 appearances during the 2020/21 campaign, helping Neil Critchley’s men win promotion to the Championship.

The academy graduate was expected to be given the chance to hold down a place in the Forest team. He has been linked with a move away from the City Ground all summer long, however, with Blackpool getting their man on deadline day.

Gabriel has been with the club for six years. He checked in from Southend United and has risen through the various youth ranks. The 22-year-old didn’t really cover himself in glory this season but he could still improve.

Forest have recouped about £750,000 for the right-back. That doesn’t represent a bad fee for a player who Chris Hughton clearly doesn’t see as part of his long-term plans.

What have Taylor and Zinckernagel said about Gabriel leaving Forest?

Taylor has been his usual jovial self with the defender. He has taken a cheeky parting quip at Gabriel, suggesting that he can’t wait to come up against him when Forest meet Blackpool.

The Reds talisman has some doubters to silence in the coming weeks. He missed a good chance to score in the game against Derby on Saturday and will want to hit the goal trail.

Zinckernagel has been Forest’s best player during 2021/22 so far. He scored in the game against Blackburn and also has three assists to his name in the Garibaldi.

He was more modest with his well wishes to Gabriel. The on-loan Watford man simply sent him his best wishes and offered him all the best for his future endeavours.
