Nottingham Forest landed their eighth summer signing, with Xande Silva joining on a permanent deal from West Ham United.
The Reds left it late in the day to bolster their attacking ranks. Silva played just twice for West Ham having signed for £3 million back in 2018.
Last season the 24-year-old spent time on loan with Aris Saloniki. He scored four goals during his time with the club and was a regular in the team.
Silva is likely to join as a striker. He will join the ranks alongside Lyle Taylor and Lewis Grabban who have been competing for the place upfront this season.
The player has signed terms with just minutes to go until the transfer deadline. It is thought that one more deal could still be on the cards too.
The young performer never really got a look in at West Ham. He checked in from Vitoria and originally looked like an exciting talent.
Things haven’t gone according to plan though and now David Moyes has opted to sell his player to Forest.
Silva has played for the Portugal youth ranks throughout the various age groups and it’ll be interesting to see how he gets on.
What have Forest fans said about Silva signing?
Well, it isn’t Josh Maja. That much is true but fans have been quite warming towards Silva following his arrival. It seems as though plenty will give him a chance to prove himself at the City Ground.
He is at a nice age to improve and as an attacker, he should get plenty of chances to play in the coming months. The challenge for Silva now is to get himself up to speed quickly and start winning matches for the Reds.
Following last night’s late announcement, here is what Forest fans had to say about the forward’s arrival on Trentside.
