If there is one thing Forest fans love to see it’s Derby County in the mud. After Saturday’s 1-1 draw with the Rams, one of Wayne Rooney’s squad has been slapped with a three-match ban and the Reds fan base are in hysterics.

Craig Forsyth has been handed a three-match suspension. In the fifth minute of Saturday’s game, he stamped on the nether regions of Forest winger Philip Zinckernagel. Referee Tim Robinson and his assistant missed it and action has now been taken.

For the Reds, it proved a double whammy that the referee missed the key incident. Forsyth went onto assist Tom Lawrence for Derby’s opening goal. On a disappointing day for the officials, Robinson also missed a clear penalty for Derby, when Joe Worrall handled.

Forest did produce a fightback in the second half. Brennan Johnson pounced with eight minutes remaining to give the Reds a share of the spoils and a first point of the 2021/22 campaign.

The Rams are on six points from their five games but face a gruelling run of fixtures after the international break. They face Birmingham, West Brom, Stoke and Sheffield United in succession.

This episode will give Wayne Rooney something else to moan about. He was incensed that the officials missed a stonewall penalty for his team on Saturday. He’s done nothing but cry about the embargo placed upon the Rams and he’ll have plenty to say about this.

Can Forest feel hard done by now Derby defender has been punished?

Not really. Forest were also dealt a huge slice of luck with a huge handball call in the first half. Had a penalty been awarded and Derby scored, the Reds would have found themselves 2-0 down in the contest.

It is amusing to see the Rams supporters with their knickers in a twist though. Like Rooney, they’ve had lots to say this summer about various agendas that the EFL might have against them. Of course, they could always try spending within their means and not paying their bills on the steps of the High Court once in while.

Following Forsyth’s ban, Forest supporters have been making fun of Derby once again and some of the Tweets have been comedy gold. Here is what the fan base has had to say.
