Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson enjoyed a good night on the international stage last night. He was handed his first start for Wales by Rob Page and played for an hour of the 0-0 draw with Finland. Afterwards, he earned praise for his showing from Wales supporters.
Johnson has played a part in each of Forest’s five league games this season. He made an assist for Lyle Taylor to open the scoring against Coventry on the first day, before scoring against Derby last weekend.
The 20-year-old was in fine form on loan at Lincoln last season. He scored 13 goals and claimed 14 assists as Michael Appleton’s team reached the League One Play-Off Final.
He has now returned to Forest and been a regular in Chris Hughton’s team. An academy graduate, he will have been proud as punch to ensure the Reds retained the Brian Clough Trophy at Pride Park on Saturday.
Brentford made a late push to take Johnson to the Premier League during the summer transfer window. Forest stood firm with their valuation though and arguably keeping their prized asset proved the best aspect of the summer window.
