Nottingham Forest are pursuing a new manger after the departure of Chris Hughton – and there seems to be confusion over Chris Wilder.
Hughton lost his job on Thursday morning, with the 2-0 defeat to Middlesbrough proving to be the end.
Forest are yet again searching for a new manager, this time in a rather perilous position.
With one point from seven Championship games, Forest are bottom of the table. Whoever comes in needs to get Forest moving forward quickly.
Conflicting reports emerge on Wilder
On Thursday night, Sky Sports reported that Forest had held talks with Chris Wilder.
Wilder has been out of a job since leaving Sheffield United earlier this year.
It was stated that Forest explored a move for Wilder, but the talks fell apart quickly.
They claimed that Wilder had issues over the cash available at Forest. Additionally, he felt he should be managing in the Premier League or top end of the Championship – not the bottom of the table.
Rio Ferdinand comments on Wilder to Forest
Yet this is where things get confusing.
The Nottingham Post claim that Wilder is keen on the job and talks haven’t yet been held.
That’s the complete opposite to what Sky are claiming.
Rio Ferdinand has taken to Twitter to react to the Nottingham Post’s report, claiming they are ‘speaking the truth’.
That would suggest that Wilder to Forest is still a possibility, even if Sky don’t think so.
We would still make Steve Cooper for the favourite for the Forest job as things stand, but Wilder is a name to keep an eye on this weekend.
