Nottingham Forest are up and running in the Championship this season. After seven winless games, the Reds produced their best display of the season to beat Huddersfield 2-0 yesterday. Afterwards, on-loan talent Djed Spence earned plaudits from the fan base.

This was Forest’s first game minus Chris Hughton. The experienced manager was sacked on Thursday morning following less than a year in charge at the City Ground. Steven Reid was placed in temporary charge for Saturday’s clash.

Spence had played at right-back in his debut against Cardiff. He was ineligible to face his parent club on Wednesday but returned in a right wing-back role against the Terriers.

The 21-year-old displayed exactly why the Reds had made a last-gasp attempt to sign him. He looked at home in the position and got forward throughout the afternoon as Forest tried to break their winning duck.

Following his withdrawal towards the end, he was spotted getting the fans excited too. For a loan player to show such passion is nice to see and Spence helped supporters leave yesterday’s game happy.

Forest deploying a system that suits Spence looks ideal. Both he and Max Lowe looked good yesterday and it’s amazing what a bit of confidence can do to lift the performance levels.

What have fans been saying about Forest newcomer Spence?

Quite simply they were blown away by his performance yesterday. The on-loan performer copped some flak when he arrived, mainly because supporters thought the club already had too many loan players in the squad.

They have soon silenced though and Spence should become a real asset over the next few months as the Reds aim to try and wrestle their way from the bottom of the table.

After the game, supporters took to Twitter and here is what they had to say about Forest loan star Spence.
