Millwall player Jed Wallace has previously stated his admiration for Nottingham Forest star Joe Lolley.

During an interview with the Not The Top 20 Podcast in February 2020, the Lions winger raved about the Reds ace.

He told the hosts on the podcast: “In terms of wide players, Joe Lolley at Nottingham Forest is the one. He’s the best we’ve come up against this season (2019/20).

“He came on for 25 minutes against us and when I watch Forest he’s the one where I think if he gets going, he’s a tough one to stop, for sure.”

Wallace has been a star performer for Millwall for several years. He already has three goals and three assists to his name during 2020.

There could be some good news for Forest though.

The 27-year-old is facing a race against time to be fit for Saturday’s trip to the City Ground.

If he does miss out it would be the first time he hasn’t featured in Gary Rowett’s team this season for a Championship fixture.

Wallace has been a revelation for Millwall. He signed for the club from Wolves 2017, having spent two seasons on loan with the club.

In 230 appearances for the Lions, he has scored 39 goals and registered 41 assists, typically operating on the right-wing in Rowett’s team.

Time for Lolley to justify Wallace hype under new Forest boss

When Wallace was busy singing the praises of the Forest star, few would have argued that he was among the best in the division.

During the last 18 months, he has declined, however. Injuries have got the better of him and he’s been struggling with his confidence.

In a pragmatic system deployed by Chris Hughton that perhaps isn’t a surprise. Lolley, like other attacking players, has been stifled for far too long.

The 29-year-old was brilliant last week at Huddersfield and Forest fans will hope he can find some form between now and the rest of the campaign.
