Steve Cooper oversaw a 1-1 draw with Millwall yesterday but on Friday he was busy confirming his backroom team at Nottingham Forest.
Alan Tate will join him from Swansea City and after penning terms at the City Ground, the Swans fan base took to Twitter to discuss the move.
The 39-year-old is a Swansea legend. He made 340 appearances for the club and helped them win promotion to the Premier League for the first time.
After finishing his playing career, Tate was taken on by the academy at Swansea, working with the under-16s and under-18s.
When Cooper was appointed as the club’s new boss in 2019, Tate was promoted and asked to work with the first team.
Clearly, the new Forest boss enjoyed his time working with the former defender. He has now installed him as the new assistant manager at the City Ground. Steve Rands has also joined, with Danny Alcock set to work with the goalkeepers.
Tate’s appointment is arguably the most crucial though. Cooper has managed to get his trusted lieutenant alongside him and that can only bode well.
Forest are next in action on Wednesday when they travel to play Barnsley, with Birmingham City to come next weekend.
What have Swansea fans had to say about Tate joining Forest?
Well, it seems as though the coach is a popular figure at the Liberty Stadium and supporters are gutted to see him leave.
Tate is now set to stay at Forest for two years, with Cooper’s mission to try and build something at the City Ground.
Tate is a young, up-and-coming coach and having him on board looks like a good move for the football club.
Swansea fans don’t seem overly happy, however, and have taken to Twitter to thank Tate for his hard work over the years.
