Nottingham Forest look to have unearthed a gem given the form of on-loan Sheffield United talent Max Lowe.

The Reds added the left-back to their ranks during the summer transfer window. He has joined Forest for the remainder of the 2021/22 campaign.

Lowe’s time at Bramall Lane hasn’t gone according to plan. He’s fallen down the pecking order under Slavisa Jokanovic and was only a peripheral figure under Chris Wilder.

United’s loss is a gain for Forest though. In six outings for the Reds, he is already showcasing his undeniable potential.

The £14,000-a-week player claimed an assist in his first game against Cardiff and netted an equaliser for Forest against Millwall at the City Ground.

In four of his outings for the Reds, he has played as a left-sided wing-back. It’s a role he’s excelled in and one he looks tailor-made in.

Some statistics from Who Scored showcase his class.

In 540 minutes of action, Lowe has made 30 tackles. That is the fourth highest of any player in the Championship during the 202“1/22 campaign.

The 24-year-old has played the fewest games in the top 10, however. Ian Maatsen of Coventry sits top of the list but he’s featured in all 11 of Coventry’s fixtures.

Future star: Forest have to add Lowe permanently

Blades fans didn’t rate him; whilst Derby fans mocked Forest for landing Lowe. The only ones laughing are the Reds, all the way up the Championship table.

Certain clubs suit certain players and Lowe looks a fantastic fit for what Steve Cooper is trying to achieve at Forest.

He has looked good at both ends of the pitch, tackles well and also uses the ball wisely when in possession.

Forest have faced a constant battle to find a left-back but with Lowe, they might have struck gold.

As a result, the Reds must move heaven and earth to sign him permanently in January.
