Nottingham Forest defender Djed Spence has heaped praise on new head coach Steve Cooper after his flying start to life at the City Ground.
The 21-year-old is on loan on Trentside from Middlesbrough. He scored in Saturday’s 3-0 win over Birmingham and has really adhered himself to the fan base.
Forest are starting to climb the Championship table having sat rock bottom when Cooper checked in.
Spence has been a revelation on the right-hand side and his energy up and down the pitch hasn’t gone unnoticed.
The youngster, who was previously linked with Tottenham, has been very impressed with the new head coach.
Spence told Nottinghamshire Live: “He is a good manager and a great guy. There’s no focus on the negatives. Of course, you have to go over bad things, but he focuses on the positives.
“Everything is about how we can win a game and finding solutions. It’s a winning mentality.
“He sets us short, personal goals. Hopefully, we can achieve them. If we do, it’s going to be good.”
Spence will spend the 2021/22 campaign on loan at the City Ground before heading back to the Riverside Stadium.
Spence already becoming a Forest fan favourite
They say you shouldn’t fall in love with loan players, but here we are again!
Spence has been superb since arriving at the City Ground and it’d be great if the Reds could somehow sign him permanently.
The youngster has taken to the right wing-back role with aplomb and he thoroughly deserved his goal on Saturday.
His comments on Cooper should delight supporters and the Reds look to be in safe hands under the ex-Swansea boss.
He has secured seven points in three games and Forest need to start looking upwards now.
With Spence bang in form and Cooper steering the wheel, who knows what Forest can achieve this season.
