Nottingham Forest face Blackpool at the City Ground this afternoon. Steve Cooper will have his sights set on a third straight victory and the first of the season on home soil.

The Reds have picked up considerably since appointing the former Swansea City boss. Forest’s new head coach has overseen seven goals from his three games in charge.

Blackpool have been a foe of Forest in the past and they arrive on Trentside in really good form themselves. Neil Critchley has got them playing well and Cooper will know today is set to be a tough test.

Ahead of today’s game, we looked at the team that could be selected by the Reds boss this afternoon.

In goal and back three

Brice Samba was in fantastic form against Birmingham and will almost certainly keep his place in the team.

Injuries to Loic Mbe Soh and Rodrigo Ely mean that Forest’s back three will pick itself today.

Scott McKenna, Tobias Figueiredo and Joe Worrall will start the game from left to right.

Midfield and wing-backs

Djed Spence and Max Lowe have arguably been Forest’s most consistent performers since the transfer window closed. Both players should start the contest this afternoon.

In midfield, there is a headache for Cooper to contend with.

Jack Colback came in against Birmingham and was largely impressive during the victory.

That said, perhaps taking James Garner out of the action for the last game was a ploy to try and revive his form.

We expect the on-loan Manchester United man to partner Ryan Yates today.

In attack

Lewis Grabban has four goals for the campaign and he looks like a man in real form right now.

Alongside him, Forest have lots of competition for places.

Philip Zinckernagel has been a shining light since joining from Watford and he should get the nod to start.

Brennan Johnson has also been strong form and that could see Alex Mighten and Joe Lolley settle for places on the bench.

Here is how today’s team could line up:
