Nottingham Forest’s great run under Steve Cooper came to an end today, and it’s fair to say the Welshman isn’t happy with today’s referee.
Forest had been unbeaten under new boss Cooper, with four straight wins firing Forest up the table.
Sunday’s game against Fulham was always going to be immensely difficult, but a 4-0 defeat was harsh.
Djed Spence’s own goal set Fulham on their way before Aleksandar Mitrovic added a brace and Neeskens Kebano got his name on the scoresheet.
Three goals in nine bonkers second-half minutes left Forest defeated, but hopefully this is just a blip.
Cooper has done a great job at Forest so far, and the hope is that his side will bounce back quickly.
Cooper spoke to Forest’s official website after the game and clearly wasn’t happy with referee Matthew Donohue.
The Welshman admitted that he had warned Donohue before the game that Fulham often block players off on set pieces.
Sure enough, that’s what happened for Fulham’s opener, leaving Cooper absolutely baffled.
“We’re really disappointed with the referee for the first goal. We warned him about the blocks from Fulham’s set plays, which is credit to them as they do it really well. It’s a clear foul by Odoi and he’s looking straight at it,” said a frustrated Cooper.
