Former Nottingham Forest starlet Jordan Gabriel helped Blackpool defeat local rivals Preston North End on Saturday. The Tangerines won 2-0 thanks to goals from Keshi Anderson and Gary Madine. Afterwards, Lyle Taylor and Tyrese Fornah responded on Instagram.
Gabriel lined up against Forest for the first time last weekend. He played the full 90 minutes as the Reds defeated Neil Critchley’s men 2-1 at the City Ground.
The 23-year-old made a permanent switch to Blackpool during the summer. Despite playing in four of the first five games of 2021/22, it was perhaps a surprise when Forest opted to cash in on the youngster.
He had by no means disgraced anyone when called upon at Forest. The signing of Djed Spence and Mohamed Drager on deadline day, however, would have ultimately pushed him down the pecking order.
Gabriel helped Critchley claim promotion with Blackpool last season. He was clearly fancied by the manager who was only too keen to bring him back to Bloomfield Road in a permanent deal.
Blackpool’s win over Preston means that Forest are the only team to beat the Tangerines during the last seven games. Gabriel has now played in the last three games and looks like a popular figure under Critchley.
What have Taylor and Fornah said about former Forest talent Gabriel?
Both players have played alongside the right-back and clearly, he was a popular member of the dressing room during his time at the City Ground.
Taylor has sent a one-word reply coupled with two emojis as his response to Blackpool securing a massive win for their supporters.
Fornah has found regular football hard to come by in the first team at Forest. He has made just one substitute appearance in the Championship and hasn’t been in a squad under Steve Cooper.
As a younger member of the squad, his time will come though and perhaps a loan move will be in the offing for January.
