Former Nottingham Forest defender Brian Laws has issued a plea to the club regarding Djed Spence.

The ex-defender was the co-commentator on BBC Radio Nottingham last night as the Reds drew with Sheffield United.

Spence was a standout performer for Forest and was arguably a Man of the Match pick for many supporters.

The 21-year-old is on loan from Middlesbrough, with the Championship outfit viewing him as a future star.

RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.

That is bad news for Forest, although Laws thinks it shouldn’t stop them from asking some questions.

After watching him torment Sheffield United for 90 minutes, the former right-back had some words of advice for the Reds.

He told BBC Radio Nottingham: “I think Forest better get their chequebook out!”

It seems almost unthinkable that Forest can sign Spence. Unless Boro are in a position where they need to cash in, although that seems unlikely.

The Reds have found themselves a gem for this season, although the problem is that he’s not their player.

Spence has made 10 appearances for the Reds this season and he’s excelled in each one of the outings.

He has made the spot at right wing-back his own and the Reds fan base will be hoping he can continue shining throughout the campaign.

Future star: Spence currently the standout Forest performer

Forest have had a few players step up since Steve Cooper arrived but Spence is absolutely the pick of the bunch.

Along with Max Lowe on the left-hand side, the pair have made the wing-back spots their own.

They say you shouldn’t fall in love with loan players as it typically ends in extreme heartache.

That ship has sailed for Forest fans and Spence has quickly become a firm fan favourite on the banks of the River Trent.
