Nottingham Forest beat Preston North End 3-0 yesterday and after the game fans discussed the performance of Alex Mighten.

The youngster was handed a first start under Steve Cooper. He has typically been utilised as an impact substitute but was handed a place in the starting eleven yesterday.

The 19-year-old does have raw potential. It’s fair to say that so far this season, however, he’s failed to scale the heights that he occasionally did last term.

Mighten was substituted just beyond the hour and it proved another largely frustrating performance for the youngster.

The talented academy graduate has registered just one goal contribution during 2021/22 and that quite simply won’t do.

In 55 games for the Reds, Mighten has scored three times and claimed two assists.

Those statistics will do little to keep the Forest youngster in the team and improvements are required.

Mighten has blistering pace and loves to beat his man but right now it seems as though his confidence has taken a knock.

Under Chris Hughton, he was largely used from the bench and perhaps that has knocked him out of his stride a little bit.

Cooper now faces a conundrum and he has to work out how best to utilise the academy prospect.

What have Forest fans said about Mighten?

It seems as though plenty feel that the Forest youngster could benefit from a loan spell away from the City Ground.

The Reds youngster is stagnating somewhat right now and perhaps a temporary switch somewhere else could prove ideal.

Mighten looks to be struggling right now and rediscovering his confidence would benefit all parties.

He might have to go to another club to do that, however, and Forest fans reacted to his performance on Twitter yesterday.
