WWE wrestler Sheamus has told Nottinghamshire Live that Nottingham Forest are a sleeping giant in the world of football.
The Irishman nicknamed the Celtic Warrior is in the East Midlands ahead of Tuesday’s live WWE event at the Motorpoint Arena.
Sheamus has won four world titles in the WWE and has been with the entertainment franchise since 2009.
The company is a global brand and live shows always attract great audiences in the United Kingdom.
Sheamus will be in town this week and ahead of the eagerly-anticipated event, he’s been discussing Forest.
He told Nottinghamshire Live: “I have a lot of football memories of Nottingham, especially with Forest.
“I think I remember slagging the crowd off because they were in the first division (Championship) and I think that was maybe 10 years ago. They’re still there; that’s a sleeping giant right there!
“It must be hard for the football fans in Nottingham to not be involved in the Premier League.”
Sheamus is currently a heel and he will likely be receiving plenty of boos from the crowd on Tuesday night.
In real life, Stephen Farrelly, who portrays Sheamus is a Liverpool fan and that is sure to be met with angst among the Forest faithful at the Nottingham Arena.
Sheamus has a point; Forest crave the Premier League
As a message back to Sheamus, he’s right, we do massively miss not being in the Premier League!
For many supporters, it’s something that has never been witnessed at the City Ground, given that it’s over 20 years since the Reds were last there.
Right now things are looking up on Trentside. Steve Cooper has the team playing some lovely football and scoring goals.
Forest are on an upward curve and must continue their climb up the Championship after the international break.
If they can keep winning games, who knows what could be achieved during 2021/22.
