Nottingham Forest defender Djed Spence has been named as the club’s Player of the Month for October.

The right-back kicked off the month by scoring in a 3-0 win over Birmingham City.

He has become a mainstay in Forest’s team since arriving on loan from Middlesbrough, making 11 appearances.

Spence helped Forest claim 14 points from seven matches during the third month of the campaign.

The former under Steve Cooper has been remarkable really considering the mess Chris Hughton left behind him.

Spence has excelled in the right wing-back role and he’s beaten off fierce competition for the monthly accolade.

Brennan Johnson claimed the award for September and was also in the running for the prize for last month.

Spence is on loan from Boro until the end of the season, but there could be a spanner in the works.

Chris Wilder has recently taken over at the Riverside Stadium and some are fearing that he may want to recall him in January.

Forest have lots of games to come before that bridge can be crossed and the hope will be that he can continue in brilliant form.

Spence will next be in action when Forest travel to Reading after the international break.

What have Forest fans said about Spence?

It’s happened again; Forest fans have fallen head over heels in love with a loan player.

Spence has quickly become a fan favourite at the City Ground, despite the fact he’s not owned by Forest.

The Reds fans are desperate to see the 21-year-old added to the ranks on a permanent basis.

That might not be possible given that Boro will likely command a hefty transfer fee to secure his services.

Following the youngster’s latest award, supporters have taken to Twitter and here is what the Reds faithful had to say about Spence.
