With the January transfer window now firmly coming into view, we’ve taken a look at one player from each Premier League club that Nottingham Forest could target on loan.
The mid-season window is notoriously tricky to negotiate and perhaps Steve Cooper will fancy a couple of temporary additions instead.
Let’s get stuck in…
Arsenal – Folarin Balogun
The talented player is scoring for fun for the under-23 ranks and is wanted by Sheffield United and Middlesbrough.
Balogun could prove a useful addition and he looks to have the attributes that would make him capable of scoring goals in the Championship.
Aston Villa – Keinan Davis
The 23-year-old seems unlikely to impress Steven Gerrard sufficiently to earn regular first-team football.
As a result, he could go out on loan and Forest have been linked with him in the past.

Brentford – Tariq Fosu
The 26-year-old caught the eye in the Championship but has failed to play a single minute during 2021/22.
Clearly, Thomas Frank doesn’t fancy him as a Premier League player and he may add something different to the Forest midfield.
Brighton – Aaron Connolly
The 21-year-old is a product of the Brighton academy but has managed just 58 minutes of league action this season.
Graham Potter’s men are flying and Connolly looks to be showing no signs of breaking in any time soon.
Burnley – Connor Roberts
A player Steve Cooper knows all about having had the player at Swansea.
The right-back scored in both games against Forest last season but hasn’t played a single Premier League game since signing for Burnley.
Chelsea – Harvey Vale
The youngster typically operates as a number 10 and he’s netted five goals for the under-23s this season.
Chelsea typically like to loan out their young talents and that could see Vale head out in January.
Crystal Palace – Scott Banks
The Scottish talent was signed from Dundee United but is yet to make his mark at Selhurst Park.
He has scored three goals this season and would give Forest an option out wide.
Everton – Jarrad Branthwaite
The 19-year-old went on loan to Blackburn last season and did really well in Tony Mowbray’s team.
He made 10 appearances during the second half of the campaign and could head out again in January.
Leeds – Lewis Bate
The young midfielder has failed to make an impact on the first team just yet having joined from Chelsea in the summer.
The Whites may look to loan him out and Forest would welcome his array of passing from midfield.
Liverpool – Kaide Gordon
The talented wonderkid is making big waves with the club’s academy teams having joined for £1 million from Derby.
He has made first-team appearances in the Carabao Cup this season and looks like a future star.
Manchester City – James McAtee
This season the young attacker is playing out of his skin and has scored two hat-tricks.

A loan deal does seem unlikely, although he was linked with Forest in the summer.
Manchester United – Anthony Elanga
Forest do have James Garner on loan at the moment from Old Trafford and the club has a good relationship with United.
Elanga is a versatile winger and he’s found the net five times for the under-23 team this season.
Newcastle – Matthew Bondswell
If Max Lowe is recalled by Sheffield United, Forest will find themselves in need of a new left-back.
Bondswell is with the under-23 ranks at St James’ Park and regular men’s football is probably the next step.
Norwich – Kieran Dowell
Dean Smith has now gone in at Norwich and it’ll be an interesting few weeks for Dowell.
The former Forest loanee has developed nicely since a previous loan spell with the Reds but has played just 209 Premier League minutes this season.
Southampton – Nathan Tella
The 22-year-old midfield is craving first-team football at this stage of his career and it’s not forthcoming with the Saints.
With that in mind, they may look to loan him out and why not to Forest.
Tottenham – Jack Clarke
Another player who the Reds have previously been linked with is the Tottenham winger.

The 20-year-old looks likely to leave Spurs in January and Forest could do worse than the former Leeds man.
Watford – Rob Elliot
The Hornets have already given the Reds Philip Zinckernagel for the 2021/22 campaign.
Looking at the squad it’s unlikely that any Watford player will be available for a loan given the size of the squad. Elliot could be an option if Forest look to add another goalkeeper.
West Ham – Armstrong Okoflex
The young talisman arrived from Celtic during the summer and looks the real deal.
He has found the net seven times in 10 appearances during the Premier League 2 campaign and a loan move could be the next step.
Wolves – Fabio Silva
The teenager has struggled to adapt to English football since arriving in the summer of 2020.
He has featured in seven games this season but managed just 34 minutes in the Premier League. Perhaps a loan move can help his development.
