Ben Osborn has been speaking to the Sheffield Star regarding his contract situation – and he’s keen to do something he never achieved with Nottingham Forest.
The 27-year-old left the City Ground in 2019 and signed a three-year contract with the Blades.
It ended a long association on Trentside, with Osborn a player who graduated through the academy.
He played 230 games for the Reds, scoring 16 goals and claiming 31 assists, showcasing his talents in a number of positions.
Osborn is out of contract in the summer. He has made 62 appearances for United and has been a regular in Slavisa Jokanovic’s team during 2021/22.
Now, he’s keen to sign a new contract at Bramall Lane and achieve something that eluded him at Forest.
Osborn told the Sheffield Star: “I definitely want to stay. I enjoy working under this gaffer and I’d love to play more football under him. Hopefully, we can be successful.
“I want to get back into the Premier League. I’d love to get promotion under my belt. It’s something I’ve not managed to do yet. It was a dream at Forest, to go up with them, and unfortunately, that didn’t happen.”
Former Forest man Osborn would be steady free agent
Maybe the ship has sailed for Forest to re-sign the versatile performer but he’s developed into a fine Championship player.
United fans seem happy with his qualities and with that in mind, a new contract does seem to be on the horizon.
Jokanovic has handed him 17 outings this season and it would appear he’s a valuable member of the squad.
Osborn speaks fondly of Forest all the time and it would seem as though he’s still disappointed he couldn’t win promotion with the club.
Now both Forest and the midfielder will go in search of their own glories, although supporters of the Reds will always appreciate what Osborn did at the City Ground.
