Nottingham Forest might have been handed a boost in their quest to sign Sheffield United striker Rhian Brewster.

TEAMtalk claims that the Blades boss Slavisa Jokanovic is now open to letting the talisman depart during January.

Steve Cooper worked with Brewster at Swansea and the former Liverpool striker notched 11 goals in 22 games during the 2019/20 campaign.

Brewster moved to Bramall Lane for £23.5 million in October 2020 but he didn’t find the net during a league game until November 2021.

It’s been a rough time for the youngster and a move elsewhere could see him start to realise his true potential.

Now, it seems as though Brewster could be on borrowed time at United and he could be offloaded in January.

Forest are keen to take him on a permanent deal with a view to signing him permanently during the summer.

Cooper is likely to be keen to reinforce his strike force when the transfer window reopens.

Lewis Grabban has eight goals this season, with Lyle Taylor on three. Both are in their thirties though and a younger option will be sought soon.

Brewster has the respect of Cooper and the pair could once again become a match made in heaven at the City Ground.

Exciting: Forest could do a lot worse than sign Brewster

Liverpool assistant manager Pep Lijnders famously called him ‘unbelievable’ back in 2019.

His goal record at Sheffield United isn’t great but his talent hasn’t just wavered and perhaps Cooper is ideal for the next stage of his development.

Forest have to trust the boss and the people behind the scenes to get the right players and perhaps Brewster would be a sound signing.

Another striker wouldn’t go amiss and taking him on an initial loan would certainly be a promising start to the January window.
