Brice Samba was the Nottingham Forest hero as the Reds drew 0-0 with Luton Town. He saved a second-half penalty and helped 10-men earn a point. After the game, Joe Lolley praised Samba on Instagram.
This wasn’t a vintage Steve Cooper performance. His team struggled to impose themselves on the game and had the goalkeeper to thank for a big point.
Forest huffed and puffed but a few injuries and suspensions to key players clearly had an impact; with the Reds once again lacking a cutting edge in the final third.
The Reds did start brightly but perhaps didn’t score during the opening 15 minutes of the contest which Cooper’s men absolutely dominated.
Lolley was handed another chance to start a game and he looked the brightest of Forest’s forward options. It was, however, the defensive rearguard that correctly earned the most praise.
Samba managed to save Elijah Adebayo’s tame penalty with his feet before making a stunning save from Kal Naismith with the game all but up.
The 27-year-old accepted the applause from over 25,000 fans inside the City Ground and his heroics ensured that Cooper has still only seen his team beaten once in 11 games.
What has Lolley said about Forest star Samba?
After a performance of such epic proportion, Cooper said that Samba got a round of applause from his teammates in the Forest dressing room afterwards.
That wasn’t the only place he was praised though and Lolley took to Instagram after the game to give a two-word assessment of the Forest goalkeeper.
The performance was a brilliant return to form for Samba. His form under Cooper hasn’t been overly bad but some have questioned his erratic tendencies at various points of the season.
Lolley himself wasn’t in bad form and on their day both he and Samba have the power to be matchwinners for Forest.
