There’s a new South American in town and his name is Braian Ojeda, with Nottingham Forest fans getting a glimpse of him for the first time last night.
The youngster made his first appearance in Forest colours, featuring for the full 90 minutes of a 0-0 draw against Luton at the City Ground.
Ojeda signed from Olimpia during the summer transfer window but has taken some time to acclimatise to his English surroundings.
With Ryan Yates suspended, the Paraguay international was handed a first start alongside James Garner in midfield.
He didn’t disappoint either. Ojeda had touched the ball perhaps three times and already there was a sense that this kid can play.
In truth, he kept things simple, did what he had to and made sure that he didn’t step too far out of his comfort zone.
When Forest were reduced to 10 men in the second half though, he didn’t go missing and instead covered every blade of grass on the City Ground turf.
The 21-year-old looks to have some qualities that Forest don’t currently have within their midfield ranks.
He possessed the flair and touch of a number 10, the passing radar of a number eight and the ability to roar into a challenge of a number 6.
His City Ground career might only be 90 minutes old but there are clear signs of Ojeda taking Forest by storm.
What have Forest fans said about Ojeda?
It might just be one game but this was a relatively strong debut. With more composure, he might have opened his City Ground account too!
His energy in the midfield engine room was a joy to behold and he looked desperate to make an impact on the team.
Fans were delighted that he came through his debut and showed some classy touches, with many taking to Twitter to discuss his display.
Here is what the Forest fan base had to say about the South American maverick.
