Nottingham Forest are on signing Tottenham youngster Dilan Markanday on loan for the remainder of the campaign.

The Premier League 2 striker has a number of clubs chasing a temporary deal. Blackburn, Bournemouth and Stoke are all in the mix to land the 20-year-old.

According to Football League World, the Spurs talisman will be allowed to go on loan by Antonio Conte during the transfer window.

The Italian boss has been impressed with the striker and has even had him training with the first team since his arrival.

Markanday has caught the eye playing with the under-23 ranks during 2020/21. He has scored 10 goals and claimed six assists during 15 appearances.

The versatile forward has showcased quality playing on the left flank, through the middle as a striker and as a number 10.

Markanday is a star of the future and his arrival at the City Ground would represent a sizeable coup.

The competition will be fierce for his signature and Forest might hope that Steve Cooper’s track record with youngsters will stand them in good shape.

Tottenham clearly feel that his development is best served on loan and the Reds are in the mix.

What have Tottenham fans said about Markanday being linked with Forest?

It does seem as though Spurs supporters wouldn’t really fancy the youngster going out on loan. Many feel he is ready for Premier League football and want Conte to give him a chance.

Spurs will want to get into the top four this season though and handing an untried youngster the chance to shine isn’t really wise at this stage.

Conte will likely prefer his experienced options and that could see a loan move on the cards for the young talent.

With that in mind, some do believe that loaning him out does make a lot of sense.

Forest could be an ideal move for Markanday and their recent performances have suggested that some more creativity in the final third would be ideal.

Here is what Tottenham fans have been saying about the youngster’s link with a loan move to the Championship.
