Nottingham Forest target Dilan Markanday could stun Tottenham during January and opt to walk away from the club permanently, according to Sky Sports.
The 20-year-old will be a wanted man when the window reopens. Forest are joined by Bournemouth and Stoke in the race to sign the talented youngster.
Markanday has been making waves at Tottenham during 2021/22. He has scored 11 times in 12 games for the Under-23s, all whilst operating as a winger.
Tottenham want Markanday to put pen-to-paper on a new deal before he heads out on loan. That might not suit the youngster though, with first-team football in his sights.
That desire could see him opt to leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for good if an offer is forthcoming in January.
A move to the Championship could offer Markanday a more direct route to first-team action.
With Antonio Conte still assessing his squad, it seems unlikely that the youngster will be starring alongside Harry Kane any time soon.
The report claims that the offer of a new deal is on the table and Markanday must now weigh up whether or not he wishes to sign it.
Forest head coach Steve Cooper has a proud record with developing youngsters and this perhaps isn’t a surprising link ahead of the window opening.
Exciting: Forest would welcome Markanday
It’s fair to say that a little more creativity in the final third certainly wouldn’t go amiss at the City Ground.
In recent weeks, Forest have perhaps struggled from a lack of depth when it comes to turning draws into victories.
Markanday’s youthful exuberance could help the Reds combat that and secure a player ahead of his best years.
The Tottenham youngster is already starring in the under-23s and under Cooper, he could thrive at Forest.
