David Prutton sometimes gets a rough reception from the Nottingham Forest fan base for his weekly Championship predictions.

The perception is that he very rarely fancies his former club to do well and as a result, often backs them for a drab result.

Prutton had two separate spells at the City Ground.

First, he came through the youth academy to make 155 appearances before being sold to Southampton for £2.5 million.

He made his mark in the Premier League with the Saints, scoring five goals in 94 appearances.

During the 2006/07 campaign, he struggled for game time though and ended up back at Forest on loan.

He made 13 appearances towards the end of the season, scoring twice as Forest lost in the play-offs to Yeovil.

It was in the 5-2 City Ground defeat to the Glovers were Prutton seemingly tarnished his relationship with the fan base.

With Forest dead on their feet and facing a humiliating defeat, Prutton went and got sent off, leaving his teammates with a mountain to climb.

Since then, the Reds have struggled to see Prutton as a Forest man and believe he has an agenda against the club when he’s on Sky Sports.

Does Prutton think Forest will beat Peterborough?

Hold the front page, Prutton has made a positive Forest prediction!

He’s told the Sky Sports website that he fancies the Reds to come out on top and he thinks there will be a 2-0 victory in store for Forest.

Steve Cooper could do with a return to winning ways. Although the Reds have lost one in 13 under the Welshman, they have drawn five of the last six.

Given his prediction, Prutton might be spared some more criticism from the Forest fan base this week.

The only hope now will be that his surprising praise doesn’t conspire to jinx the Reds this weekend!
