The draw for the FA Cup third round has taken place at Wembley this evening and Nottingham Forest now know who they will face.
Steve Cooper will pit his wits against Premier League opposition as Arsenal have been handed a trip to the City Ground.
It will see the Gunners return to Nottingham for the first time since Forest dumped Arsene Wenger’s team out of the competition in 2018.
The Reds have got themselves a mouthwatering tie and Cooper will undoubtedly look forward to testing himself against Mikel Arteta.
Arsenal are going well in the Premier League this season and the challenge does look a tough one for Forest.
Ultimately though it will be a great test for the Reds who have also been in solid form since Cooper checked in at the club.
Arsenal will naturally have the edge over Forest. They are a quality Premier League side and will ultimately have a massive squad to choose from.
Neither side are likely to prioritise the FA Cup this season and it could actually be two second-string outfits that take to the field.
The challenge for Forest will be to ensure they give a good account of themselves and make life as difficult as possible for the Gunners.
When will Forest play Arsenal?
The game will take place across the weekend commencing Friday 7th January.
Given that the draw hasn’t thrown up too many glamorous ties, there is every chance the clash will be moved for television.
The last time the two sides met in the FA Cup the game was switched to the Sunday evening slot, with Forest running out surprise winners.
This game is one that supporters will undoubtedly look forward to and the City Ground is sure to be rocking.
