Talented Nottingham Forest defender Jayden Richardson has joined National League outfit Notts County on loan for a month

The versatile full-back is available for Saturday’s game with Southend and will hope to play plenty of football.

Richardson has made four first-team appearances during the 2021/22 campaign. He played in both Carabao Cup games and was also introduced from the bench against Middlesbrough and Huddersfield.

He’s played a starring role in Andy Reid’s under-23 team this season but now he will get the chance to play some first-team football.

Richardson is out of contract at the City Ground during the summer of 2022 and he’ll be keen to impress in the coming month.

He may see his chances of a proper chance at Forest dwindling, although the ball is now in his court.

The Forest academy product can operate in a number of positions on either the right or the left.

He will likely play at full-back for Notts who typically operate with a flat back four. Richardson will give Ian Burchnall the option to be flexible though.

The Forest man spent last season on loan with Forest Green and the season previous he helped Exeter to the League Two play-off final.

What have Forest and Notts fans said about Richardson deal

It’s fair to say the Notts fans are pretty chuffed.

They hope that Richardson can come in and get plenty of games and help the team push towards automatic promotion.

The Magpies are only four points off the top of the National League; although they are down in seventh place right now.

Forest fans are also big admirers of this loan move and think it will do Richardson good.

The youngster does have plenty of players ahead of him at the moment and he’s perhaps outgrown under-23 football.

The Reds faithful believe he can still be a big player though and some hope he smashes it at Notts County/
