Nottingham Forest defeated Bristol City to progress in the FA Youth Cup with the Reds running out 3-1 winners at the City Ground.
Goals from talented trio Dale Taylor, Detlef Esapa Osong and Jack Nadin gave Forest a place in the next round.
It wasn’t all one-way traffic and the Reds were made to work for their victory in the City Ground cold.
Up next for Forest in the competition will be a trip to Peterborough United in the fourth round.
The form of lethal front three really caught the eye in Warren Joyce’s team.
Each player provides something different. Esapa Osong is powerful, Taylor provides a lethal finish when called upon by Forest and Nadin comes alive in the penalty area.
The future looks bright for Forest in the final third and the Reds will be spoilt for choice in the next few years.
The win came thanks to three lovely goals and Joyce will have been happy with his team’s performance on the night.
It was a timely performance for the under-18s who have struggled to get to grips with the U18 Premier League this season.
The hope will be that the lads can now kick on and use this performance as a catalyst for improvements.
For Taylor, this could be just the start at Forest.
What did Forest fans have to say about Dale Taylor?
It’s fair to say that his Northern Ireland call-up has seen a buzz around the 17-year-old talisman.
Some are keen to see him play in the first-team, although it’s perhaps a little bit too soon for that.
After recovering from an injury, the youngster is doing everything right by simply scoring goals for the youth ranks.
Following last night’s performance, Forest fans have once again raved about Taylor and hope to see him get a chance to shine under Steve Cooper at some point.
