Nottingham Forest chairman Nicholas Randall QC has made a claim about Dane Murphy that could have supporters losing their minds.

The Reds CEO was due to be at a community event this week. He did have to pull out at the eleventh hour, however, citing that he was working on recruitment issues in London.

“He tells me he’s doing transfers,” Randall told Nottinghamshire Live.

It looks as though Murphy might be getting his ducks in a row ready for January.

Forest will undoubtedly go in pursuit of a few new players, with Steve Cooper likely to want to make his mark on the squad.

It does seem as though the loan market might be one to tap into but some permanent deals might be struck too.

Murphy will certainly hope for more success in the market than he had in the summer.

That proved a frustrating period for the club, with several primary targets proving difficult for Forest to obtain.

Lee Buchanan from Derby was one player that Forest wanted. Murphy is a big fan of his, although he’s now nursing an injury.

Braian Ojeda was added as a Murphy player and it’s a case of so far, so good for him at the City Ground.

Fans will be hoping for more of the same in January.

Murphy mystery: Who could Forest man have been discussing in London?

Dilan Markanday is one name that has been linked with a move to Forest. The Tottenham youngster has been in fine form for the under-23s and will be available in January.

Another one is Folarin Balogun. He hasn’t been linked but boy would the Arsenal man be a stunning signing for any Championship outfit.

It doesn’t have to be that he was in the capital to discuss a London-based player. Plenty of owners and chairman have offices in the city and it really could have been anyone.

The links will intensify in the coming weeks and it will be interesting to see what Murphy does have up his sleeve.
