Tottenham starlet and Nottingham Forest transfer target Dilan Markanday is set to sign a new contract with the Premier League outfit before heading out on loan in January.

According to Football Insider, the talented forward is close to agreeing on a new contract with Tottenham.

There had been some uncertainty over whether he would sign a new deal at Spurs, with his current deal up in the summer.

Now, it seems as though the 20-year-old has committed his future to Tottenham and will embark on a loan spell in January.

Several clubs are vying for his services. Forest are keen, with Rangers, Celtic, Stoke and Bournemouth all also linked with a temporary move for the player.

Markanday has been in fine form during 2021/22 for the Tottenham under-23 outfit.

He has scored 11 goals in 13 games despite largely performing as a left-winger in the team.

Markanday can also operate through the middle as a striker and his arrival would certainly add some competition to the ranks.

The youngster has been training with the first team under Antonio Conte and he looks set for a bright future in the game.

Options: Forest would welcome Tottenham gem Markanday

It’s fair to say that some more options in the final third wouldn’t go amiss once the January transfer window.

Markanday’s ability to score goals and create them wouldn’t be frowned upon and he’d be a decent addition.

Something might have to give in the way of loan signings though.

Forest already have five and given that’s how many can be in a matchday squad, Steve Cooper may look to send one or two back.

The Reds head coach has a proud history of nurturing young players and that might play into Tottenham’s thinking when it comes to deciding where to loan him.
