Nottingham Forest thrashed Swansea 4-1 yesterday and after the game supporters took to social media to discuss midfielder Cafu.
The 28-year-old has been forced to wait patiently for a chance in the team under Steve Cooper.
Yesterday, he was introduced for the final 23 minutes plus stoppage time of the game at the Swansea.com Stadium – and he didn’t disappoint.
The Portuguese performer kept things nice and tidy in possession and also fired home a late goal to set the seal on a big win.
Cafu signed for Forest from Olympiacos in the summer of 2020. He was part of the deal that saw Tiago Silva head to Greece and his loan stay at the City Ground was made permanent in January.
This season has proved a struggle though. Cafu has barely made the squad under Cooper, although injuries and suspensions have helped him win some game time recently.
The versatile midfielder has made 40 appearances in total for the Reds and does bring something to the team.
He is capable of winning possession and also boasts a decent passing radar that can stretch defences.
One real challenge for Cafu is that several players are currently in front of him. James Garner, Ryan Yates, Jack Colback and Braian Ojeda are all ahead of him in the pecking order.
What have Forest fans said about Cafu?
It’s fair to say that they’re pretty pleased with how things have gone for him. His goal caught the eye but his overall play was largely impressive too.
Forest will need their squad with games now coming thick and fast. As a result, Cafu has perhaps picked a good time to prove a point to Cooper.
Following his decent cameo yesterday, we looked at what Forest fans had to say on Twitter about the former Portugal youth international.
