Nottingham Forest were linked with a move for Christian Walton during the summer and he could now be set for a move to the Championship, according to The Sun.
Walton has been on loan in League One with Ipswich Town and has made 14 appearances for the Tractor Boys.
The 26-year-old is now expected to be recalled by Brighton and will immediately be sold to a club in the second tier.
Walton has several clubs on his CV and has made 83 appearances in the Championship, keeping 23 clean sheets.
His future at Brighton is non-existent and now he’s set to earn himself a move in search of regular football at a higher level.
Forest were linked with Walton before they signed Ethan Horvath.
The American checked in from Club Brugge and has provided Brice Samba with some much-needed competition.
Walton headed to Ipswich and he’s now established as the first choice goalkeeper at Portman Road.
The agile goalkeeper has enjoyed successful loan spells with Wigan and Blackburn and that has clearly caught the eye of several clubs.
Walton has kept three clean sheets during the current campaign but is now geared for his next move.
Did Forest miss a trick with Walton?
Not really. Samba is the number one goalkeeper and right now he’s playing with some serious confidence.
Having Horvath in reserve has seen him up his game and he’s now thriving under the management of Cooper.
Walton is at a nice age for a goalkeeper but it does seem likely that he wants to play regular football.
He won’t be doing that any time soon and Forest are in safe hands Samba between the posts.
It will, however, be intriguing to see where he ends up in the coming weeks.
