Nottingham Forest defeated Swansea 4-1 on Saturday to climb to eighth in the Championship. Lyle Taylor was introduced off the bench and afterwards he received praise from Djed Spence and Jordi Osei-Tutu on Instagram.
The 31-year-old has found game time pretty hard to come by this season. He has largely played second fiddle behind Lewis Grabban and has relied on minutes from the bench to prove himself.
Steve Cooper appears happy with the talisman though and he will have been really pleased with Taylor’s assist at the weekend.
With the seconds ticking towards full-time, the former Charlton man produced a lung-busting run down the right, before pulling back to Cafu who fired home from the edge of the box.
It was a first assist of the campaign for the Montserrat international. His brilliance put the seal on a tremendous win in Wales for Forest.
Taylor has been forced to grasp his chances from the bench and with three goals this season he’ll hope for more opportunities.
The problem for the striker is that Grabban now has nine for the campaign and he remains the number one striker in the squad.
What have Spence and Osei-Tutu said about Forest sub Taylor?
It has been a tough week on a personal level for Taylor. He has endured a family bereavement and naturally, that has taken a toll on the striker.
He made his family proud though with this hardworking cameo and his assist really was a joy to behold late on.
Spence has enjoyed a little joke with Taylor about the fact that he appears to still be posing whilst in possession of the ball.
Osei-Tutu is on loan from Arsenal. He’s also sent some love in the direction of Forest talisman Taylor.
