Former Nottingham Forest coach Bruno Baltazar has taken his next step into management. He has joined Rochester New York FC in the MLS Next Pro ahead of the inaugural campaign. Following his appointment, Joe Lolley has reacted on Instagram.

Baltazar was a trusted lieutenant of Sabri Lamouchi. He worked at the City Ground during the 2019/20 campaign before leaving in October of 2020 along with the French manager.

The 44-year-old has managed before. He has taken charge of Casa Pia, Olhanense, AEL Limassol, APOEL and Estoril during his career. He’s also spent time as assistant manager at several lesser clubs.

Baltazar is a respected coach in European football and his next step is an intriguing one.

MLS Next Pro is a new concept set up by the MLS. It will feature 20 reserve teams and next season will be the division’s inaugural campaign.

Baltazar will now aim to make a name for himself as a manager after spending some time working as a number two in recent years.

Lolley was in fine form during the 2019/20 campaign when Lamouchi and Baltazar were in place at Forest.

His form very nearly helped Forest reach the play-offs; although an end of season capitulation put an end to those aspirations.

What has Forest star Lolley said about Baltazar?

Lolley clearly had a good relationship with the former Forest staff member. He has placed a message to Baltazar on his Instagram following his appointment.

The Portuguese incumbent will now get to work immediately and will hope to enjoy a strong season with Rochester New York.

Lolley scored 10 goals and claimed nine assists during Baltazar’s season at the City Ground. He clearly bought into his coaching methods and his form was good due to them.

The 29-year-old reacted on Instagram with a heartwarming message to his former coach.
