Nottingham Forest have given academy midfielder Tyrese Fornah a contract extension until 2024.
The Reds have handed an extension to the 22-year-old who has waited patiently for a chance during 2021/22.
Fornah has featured in two Carabao Cup matches and one game in the Championship during the current campaign.
Interestingly, he’s yet to feature in any of Steve Cooper’s squads but he’s clearly impressed him in training.
Fornah has been a regular for the under-23s in their Premier League 2 campaign, making nine appearances and scoring a single goal.
The youngster spent last season on loan at Plymouth in League One. He made 44 appearances for the club and helped them to a respectable finish in the third tier.
Now, Fornah can look forward to the future as a Forest player, with the club giving him more time to make the step up.
Prior to the pandemic, Fornah got some game time at Casa Pia. There he played five times but saw his loan spell cancelled when the season was curtailed.
His only outing in the league during the current campaign came as a substitute for five minutes against Blackburn in August.
Now, he’ll hope to start getting more opportunities after penning his contract extension.
What have Forest fans said about Fornah?
It’s fair to say that they believe this to be a positive step in the right direction.
However, it’s unlikely that a shot in the first team will come any time soon.
