Nottingham Forest beat Hull City 2-1 yesterday with Lewis Grabban and Brennan Johnson scoring the goals. Following the game, Johnson received some praise on Instagram from Arvin Appiah and Brice Samba.
The Reds were largely impressive throughout the game. The Tigers did take an undeserved lead through Keane Lewis-Potter in the first half, despite Forest dominating.
The Reds were good value for a win though and Johnson was once again in fine form for Steve Cooper’s team.
A Forest academy graduate, he has played in every game under the new head coach and he’s deserved the show of faith from the gaffer.
Johnson scored his fifth goal of the campaign yesterday and he looked lively throughout the contest as Forest claimed a big three points.
Last season, the versatile forward spent time on loan at Lincoln. He scored 13 times and claimed 14 assists as the Imps lost in the League One play-off final.
Johnson has followed on from last season with some good form for Forest. He is growing with each game and looks set for a solid campaign.
The challenge for Forest will be to ensure they can keep hold of Johnson and hopefully tie him down to a new deal.
What did Samba and Appiah say about Forest star Johnson?
Samba summed up Johnson’s performance using a one-word message and three flame emojis.
Johnson is certainly on fire and this was the second game in succession that he’s found the net for Forest.
Appiah moved to Almeria for £8 million back in 2019 and the move hasn’t really worked out for him in truth.
He also used a single word to sum up the performance of Johnson, having spent time coming through the Forest youth ranks with the forward.
